Some comments from our guests:
Thank you so much for a lovely holiday in your beautiful and well equipped gite. We all enjoyed the wonderful pool, fun solar shower and table tennis tournaments. The adults appreciated how thoughtfully and well equipped the house is! We would recommend the house for a family holiday-peaceful location but near to Meschers, Royan, Jonzac, Bordeaux and the Medoc for trips out. J,R,H &E B Sudbury
Thank you so much for a lovely week. Beautiful house, well equipped and really fun week. G, T, J & M S. Surrey
Your house is just so French, we love it so much! A & A London
Just a note to say that we had an absolutely wonderful holiday at Le Petit Manoir...but forgot to sign the visitors' book to make it official! You coped with the hot water crisis in brilliant fashion and all members of our party have spoken about the high quality of beds and bathrooms, kitchen and games equipment, TV and WiFi etc. Family chemistry can always be tricky at holiday times but your house supplied the correct formula. We have returned with several bottles of your neighbours wine on David's recommendation and plan to purchase a lot more for our daughter's wedding next June. With very best wishes J & B Liphook, Hants
After such a long drive from Calais, (and the Eurotunnel problems) it was such a pleasant surprise to receive the "Welcome Pack" - thank you so much. The Pizzaria in the village came to our rescue that first night! the house, grounds and setting are lovely and we spent most days relaxing in the pool and playing table tennis. The large electical storm was exciting until it knocked out the hot water, but thank you so much, for getting the plumber around so quickly. Thanks again for a lovely time, all the best! McG Family, Surrey.
We had a lovely stay. The milk, wine and veg were a lovely touch after the journey down. The kids have really enjoyed the pool and beach in the evenings. Ate at "le restaurant du port" yesterday very good meal. We would like to book again for next year and we'll advise you when on our return to the UK. Thank You! M Family Tunbridge Wells.
Thank You for a lovely stay - the provisions and fresh flowers were a lovely welcome after a very long drive! Weather has been up and down but we have spent some great sunny afternoons in the pool and the children have had fun finding frogs! Not had mosquito problems but have found some big spiders, the best wildlife has been the lizards. Loved St George de Didonne, Royan had lots to do but lacked the charm of St Georges. The Aquarium at La Rochelle is good. Recommend the Brasserie du Nord for a lovely lunch next to the water. The children have slept very well and we are all very rested after a lovely holiday. Thank You, Bolton Family Warwickshire
We have thoroughly enjoyed our brief holiday. Le Petit Manoir more than exceeded our expectations and its rural location enabled us to truly switch off, thank you. Many thanks also for the welcome supplies and produce - if only we could successfully grow peppers and aubergines at our allotment in Cheshire. Sue, Paul and the girls, Cheshire.
We enjoyed our stay in your very comfortable house, which easily accommodated our children and grandchildren. As the weather was warm we made good use of the beautiful garden and pool. The children particularly enjoyed the swimming pool. We found the house very well situated for visits to the estuary and the seaside. J & A T. and Family, Sheffield
We had a great time in a peaceful and quite location with the weather being a bonus, plus fantastic pool and garden. Ian M Leeds
Beautifully quite and relaxed. House very comfortable and well equipped. The figs were very tasty indeed. Weather excellent except from a spectacular storm a couple of evenings ago. We must try to make it earlier in the year next time. Tina, Jay and Bill.
We had a fabulous time! Thank you for a wonderful holiday - our most relaxing yet! Two weeks next time :-) Thank you Mark, Therese, Will and Izzy, Devon
We really enjoyed our stay. A lovely house. We've stayed in lots of holiday lets over the years and you win the prize for best welcome - the highlight being the home grown salad and veg. As gardeners ourselves that was a lovely touch. Thank you for a lovely holiday. C family - Leeds.
Had a great 2 weeks, weather fabulous & the few cloudy days a welcome respite from the heat. The house was beautiful, & really comfortable and well equipped. Thank you very much for such a lovely stay. The bedrooms & bathrooms were beautifully clean - lots and lots of clean towels - much appreciated, as were the provisions in the fridge on arrival. We had lovely days out to Blaye (market Weds a.m.) & Port Maubert - really lovely restaurant there, open Sunday evenings. The citadel at Blaye was lovely, lots of lovely quaint shops, several cafes and smarter restaurants and a great pony & trap ride, 20 euros for the whole family. A bit further from St Thomas than we thought & the hills have made cycling with children rather challenging. The pool & garden are fabulous and we have had a lovely time. Les Antilles in Jonzac good for children, also the Base de Loisirs is excellent, lovely cafe/restaurant for lunch and kayaks, pedalos etc. for hire. Also trampolining and other stuff for kids as well as a lovely cool lake for swimming. Thank you again for a lovely stay & I hope the rest of the summer is as lovely as our two weeks. Jo, Simon, B + F J., Poole Dorset.
We had a wonderful holiday. The house
was just right for all of us. It was so calm and peaceful in your dreamy
garden and fabulous pool. We really enjoyed our boat trip from Vitrezay
thank you for suggesting that, and had a great time in Cognac; Jarnac was
good too. We weren't over fond of Blaye but adored Royan and it's chic
neighbour, St George.
The girls loved watching the storks and herons take off. We hadn't been to your region before but now it's our favourite, it seems to have charmed us and woven its' magic, so much so, that we are already planning next year and will be in touch when we have firmed up on the dates, we may be able to manage 3 weeks if your lovely house isn't already bagged, in which case we'll try and work round what availability you have. Thank you once again, Megan, Patrick, B, C +Y; Hamilton

Many thanks J & D for the lovely house and making us feel so welcome on arrival ( the goodies were much appreciated). Going to miss picking the fruits from all around the garden and lanes - the pear and bramble tart was a real winner and free!! Best wishes K & I, Cheshire.

Thanks for a lovely week at the Petit Manoir! It's a lovely house, beautiful surroundings and very peaceful and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool!! We can truly recommend the restaurant Moulin du Val de Seugne for a gourmet dinner. I'le de Re, Talmont, Cognac and St Emilion were well worth a visit, to mention a few! In St Aubin de Blaye we visited a great wine tasting centre, with a huge variety of local wine for tasting. If you go to Cognac try Le Bistro de Claude - great! Really good food, good service and great atmosphere. Best wishes E P L & T Malmo and Stockholm, Sweden. ps Also we got to hear the Golden Oriole ( Oriolus Oriolus ) in the forest behind the cottage and also see some Stag Beetles. Wonderful for a nature buff. Looking forward to renting the place later, it was quite a delight!
We have just returned from a glorious week at the Petit Manoir. It is a beautiful old house which has been lovingly restored to a high standard yet has retained many original features with some interesting pieces of furniture. The pool, bicycles and table tennis kept us occupied whilst at home and there are many lovely beaches and riverside harbours nearby. Driving through the country roads amongst acres of vineyards was a pleasure as was a visit to the town of Cognac. The supermarket at Mirambeau and the local bakeries made shopping very easy and the whole week was totally relaxing. The best part was either laying by the pool or laying in bed with nothing better to do than listen to the birds singing! Thank you Janet and Dieh. We really enjoyed our week and we enjoyed the bottles you left us in the fridge! Jill, Brian, Kirsty and James in Sheffield
We have much enjoyed our stay here. The area is new to us and we were excited to find what a good bird watching place the Gironde is. The house is comfortable and had most of the things we needed. The hot sun has been on our backs all day - I think it too much to hope that we will get the same treatment in England! P. N .
We had a great holiday. The house is lovely and really well equipped and the pool is fantastic. Thanks again for providing such a lovely base for our holiday. R. M. L. S. & R. L-F, Wiltshire
Thank you for providing such a lovely house, we have had a lovely holiday, much needed! K. D. M. B & A
We have had a lovely holiday in this lovely old house, very comfortable and well equipped. Made good use of the bicycles and pool. Chateau Beaulon was worth a visit for the gardens and tastings! Our visit to Bordeaux was the highlight of the week. Thank you for the little extras - much appreciated. R. V. E. & D. Berks UK
We have had a fabulously relaxing break in this wonderful house. The pool is tremendous and a welcome cool option on a toasty warm day. The zoo is a great place to visit..... Bordeaux was beautiful..... we parked at the tram stop and got the tram into the town centre. Thank you so much for the little personal touches. A wonderful place, a wonderful holiday. Bryan, Emma, baby Harriet and Granny.
Thank you.... we had a great time, very relaxing which is just what the doctor ordered !! Thanks again. N. & F. Berkshire
The house was lovely and the area was absolutely fantastic, we did not get to see as many Chateaux as we would like so we will have to do that next time! SueMay T. London.
"What a memorable experience! -
living in a French hamlet with French people,
fresh baguettes from the van,
oozing fromage, delicious cognac,
fields of reverent sunflowers, heads bent in prayer,
a garden redolent with ripening figs,
the harvesting of lush, juicy grapes hanging from their vines,
wines, foods and good times shared with family and friends.
All in this lovely French farmhouse!! Thank you Janet and Dieh. Jan and John, Lim and Peter, Bob and Morag, NSW Australia.
"We have had a lovely holiday here - house is comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed walking locally and generally relaxing by the pool - could easily have spent another week here! Many thanks, The P Family, Farnham, Surrey.
"We have had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The house is very clean and comfortable with everything you could want. In fact, we have spent more time here than planned, Our teenage sons loved the pool, bikes and have already recommended the gite to people." Jane, Sean, William and Robert H. West Midlands
"After a journey that took almost 3 hours longer than planned with it raining until we got to the bottom of the hill, we arrived a little deflated and unsure what to expect for the next 2 weeks. However, within 5 minutes of walking into the house it was all forgotten, the little extras in the fridge were very welcome. The house itself was very comfortable and absolutely spotless throughout. We spent a large part of the fortnight by the pool which was enjoyed by us all. We visited Royan, Cognac (pretty, but everything shuts on a Monday). The beach at Vergnes was really good, not too busy and ideal for families. The indoor swimming pool at Jonzac was also very good for a cloudy/rainy day. Thanks for a lovely 2 weeks." Matthew, Deb, Joe, Sam and Max S. West Sussex
"We had a lovely time at Le Petit Manoir - thank you. A beautiful spot and a lovely house, the kids had a great time in the pool - we would come again." Catherine, David, Laura and James C. Nottingham.
"We had absolutely everything we look for in a holiday - privacy, peace, space, a pool, luxury, elegance and more...... the bicycles were great, but could you have the hills removed? It is a lovely spot for a relaxing French holiday. We enjoyed dashing out to greet the Fish van and the Bread van, I hope these things don't die out completely. Further afield the zoo is wonderful and more than enough for one visit. The White Horse is in safe hands and the proprietor tries hard to please - his steaks were incredible." Nigel, Carole, Sam and Amelia P-S, Reading
"We found it was really pretty here. The pool and the big garden were great..... in the house the things were beautiful. We saw a lot of lizards. We children had a lot of fun in the pool, The R Family, Stuttgart, Germany
"We have enjoyed a lovely week here, super weather in loads of beautiful countryside = heaven. The house is gorgeous, we have been playing boules, table tennis and generally relaxing in this idyllic spot. Pool was a bit chilly! - will be lovely by end of June! Thank you for making everything so welcoming, we will heartily recommend the place and hopefully return soon." A R & Family, Bordon, Hampshire
